АЛЕКСАНДРОВА ГОРА

На территории национального парка «Плещеево озеро» находится 12 зарегистрированных памятников археологии. Наиболее значимый из них — Клещинский комплекс на северо-восточном озерном берегу. Самая заметная его часть — крутой холм, известный как Александрова гора. Согласно преданию, на его вершине здесь стоял загородный двор князя Александра Невского, а позже основанный, возможно, им же Александров Борисоглебский монастырь. Этот монастырь был сожжен в годы Смуты и больше не возрождался. С этого высокого холма открывается самый лучший вид на озерную гладь и окрестности Переславля-Залесского. В 1853 и 1854 годах Александрова гора была тщательно исследована П.С. Савельевым. Холм оказался искусственно насыпанным, а отвесный разрез обнаружил слои насыпей разных эпох. Высота Александровой горы чуть более 30 м.

Alexander's hill

Not far from Kleshchin so-called Yarilina Plesh (“Bald patch of the Sun God”) is located, it was a place of worship for ancient tribes. At first Ugro-Finnic tribes and later northern Slavs worshipped the God of the Sun on the hill. This cult was a part of fertility cult in the pre-Christian world and was one of the most widespread ones. Now the hill is called Alexander's hill. This is due to foundation of Alexander Monastery of Boris and Gleb by Alexander Nevskiy in the 13th century. Its buildings existed until the 17th century. Thanks to the efforts of employees of the national park "Lake Pleshcheyevo", the community of St. Nikita's monastery and the Kazaks of Pereslavl, a cross was set up on the hill that stands there till nowadays. In 1853 and 1854 Alexander's hill was carefully examined by P.S. Savelyev. The hill turned out to be artificially filled and the vertical section showed layers of various epochs. Alexander's hill is over 30 m high.
